Nightmares from ebay & paypal!

Postby Lefalaja » Mon Feb 24, 2014 10:54 am

It's about time to have this thread :mad2:

Most of us have used ebay and paypal so no need to explain how that works in general.
However there are always rules with the tiny letters and hidden away good that not everyone knows about facepalm

Horror stories? There are thousands of them :gaytard:
Have you been fucked by ebay/paypal? Please share your story here.

I did return an item one time and never got the money back facepalm
Someone bought my game but never paid (never sell to someone with zero feedback)
NEVER EVER EVER EVER.... EVER cancel something you sold cos the buyer begging you to cancel what he/she bought :veryangry:
Bought games, when i return them (fake) i only got half of the money back and ebay/paypal said that should be enough :wow: :wall:

First, everyone should know that ebay bought paypal some years ago.
Second, it's a private business.
Third, they have their own rules for different countries so make sure you know the rules of that country you buy/sell from/to.

IMPORTANT: Ebay/paypal can take/withdraw money from the bank account you have linked to paypal without you approving facepalm

Here is just one of the many horror stories out there:

Random Credit Check = $5000 Frozen
Sun Feb 23 2014

Today without warning Paypal "closed" my account with $5,772.91 dollars in it. They say on the website and in several calls I made to them that they will not release the money due to a routine credit scan they made and didn't like what they read in my equifax credit report.

What closed means by their definition is I can't take the money out and I earn no interest on the money for 6 months. Almost 2 months have gone by since this happened and this is still the situation. They say when I signed up for Paypal I signed a standard agreement that says they can freeze the money in my account any time they want to. I strongly suspect they are earning interest on the money and, in effect, this is a scam on their part to make millions of dollars. I have 100% positive feedback as a seller on eBay (which owns paypal) and I've sold over 100 items. I have a feedback score of 86 with many of these being repeat business that doesn't cause the feedback number to increase. The money was frozen from an auction in which all the winning bidders gave me positive feedback except for one non-paying bidder in Italy who never sent the money despite repeated emails so, of course, I never sent him the item. (The amount of the non-paying bidder is $500.00 --- but since he never sent any money by Paypal or any other means I fail to see how this could play a roll in the "closed" account).

Periodic non-paying bidders are, unfortunately, a fact of life on eBay --- fortunately a rare one in my experience. The other eight winning auctions of the "freeze" auction all gave me not just positive but glowing feedbacks saying they both received the items I sent them and were extremely happy with them. Without the money from PayPal there is a very good chance I will lose my family home as well as my mother's home we are attempting to bring up to code. I, my wife, and two sons have lived in our family home for around 18 years. My mother, before she was institutionalized lived in her house (with my father, me and my sister in the earlier days) for around 50 years. We were planning on renting out my mother's house to help pay for the expenses of her staying at Alzheimer Gated communities which charge $3,500.00 a month and more.

Ironically, before this happened, I was a big fan of Paypal..

Fakes on ebay :gaytard: :arosed: facepalm
We all know that :scrtatchchin:

CHICAGO (Reuters) — Luxury jeweler Tiffany & Co. has sued eBay Inc., claiming the online auctioneer has aided violations of the Tiffany trademark by letting counterfeit items be sold on its Web site, a Tiffany spokesman said Monday.
A study of certain pieces of "Tiffany" jewelry sold on eBay this year showed that 73% of the jewelry was counterfeit, Mark Aaron, a Tiffany spokesman, said in a statement about the lawsuit, which was filed Friday afternoon in U.S. District Court in New York.

Tiffany shares rose 21 cents, or 0.6%, to $37.94 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Shares of eBay fell 69 cents, or 0.8%, to $85.81 on Nasdaq, down from a high of $87.24 earlier in the day.

"Since they are making the money from it, the public is being defrauded by it and Tiffany is being damaged by it, the question is who should bear the burden of policing it," James Swire, the lawyer representing Tiffany, said of eBay.

An eBay spokesman says it has a program in place called VeRO, or verified rights owners, to help companies prevent fake goods from being sold on eBay.

"We take these concerns very seriously, which is why we have worked closely with Tiffany and thousands of other rights owners for many years through our VeRO program to help them address these types of issues," the eBay spokesman, Hani Durzy, said.

He added that he could not comment specifically on the lawsuit because eBay has not seen the complaint.

The lawsuit asks that eBay be stopped from listing any "Tiffany" merchandise that is not genuine and for eBay to account for profits it made on the sale of counterfeit Tiffany merchandise or else pay up to $1 million for each type of fake Tiffany merchandise sold on the Web site.

"We have been in correspondence with eBay for some period of time," Swire said. "A year ago, they declined to themselves police their auction sites for counterfeit Tiffany merchandise and said we should use the programs they have to police the site."

Using eBay programs like VeRO, Tiffany had two employees work full-time policing the site and forced the shutdown of about 19,000 auction sites on eBay, he said. This year, Tiffany randomly bought silver "Tiffany" jewelry on eBay and found that 73% of it was counterfeit, 5% of it was genuine and the rest was promoted as "Tiffany-like" but not promoted as genuine.

Sales of shoddy counterfeit merchandise with the Tiffany name harms Tiffany's reputation, the company said.
