Nintendo is finally bringing the Nintendo Network ID to the Nintendo 3DS! This is a further step away from the complicated friend-code system and, by making it possible to use the same Network ID you own on your Wii U, a step towards a unified account system like we already know it from Sony’s Playstation Network!
To sweeten those new updates even more, Nintendo of Europe is gifting everyone, who registers a Nintendo ID between December 10th 2013 and 23:59 UTC on January 31st 2014, a Super Mario Bros DX code!
Quite a reason to pause Bravely Default or Zelda A Link Between Worlds on your 3DS for a moment and register your very own Nintendo ID! The download code will be send to your email address in the middle of February 2014!
Let’s all hope this is just Nintendo’s beginning to bind VC games to this account and that they will start to enable cross-platform play for those VC and other eshop titles very soon!
